One of the best parts about the job was learning to make animated cartoons. We were given a Bolex 16 mm camera that allowed us to film one frame at a time. I would make cut out figures and move them a little at a time, filming each step of the way. When you played the film back, the figures would move. It often took weeks to complete one short 2 minute film. In those days the film had to be sent out of country to develope.
