Bob and I wrote a series of shows based around a "family". Kasem was an Indian, Miss Silent was a young girl who couldn't speak but had to pantomime everything. I've forgotten the roles of the other characters. But in every episode we would weave English words into the storyline and make the plot simple enough for little children to comprehend even if they couldn't understand all the English words.
