I wonder where this was taken? Flight to Bangkok?

No. This was taken in 1972 on a luncheon cruise up the Chao Phraya river
The Peace Corps hosted a luncheon on the boat for our Thai counterparts at the Bangkok municipality and the TV station to apologize for some friction between Thai workers and a couple of new Peace Corps volunteers. The volunteers had just arrived to take over Mike Schmuecker’s job at the Municipality. They became quite upset at the Thai set construction crew at the TV station for not having the set for their new TV show ready on time. They began yelling at the Thai workers and called them “lazy”. This caused quite a row. The 2 volunteers decided quit the Peace Corps over the incident. The flap left a lot of feathers ruffled, so we went to Ann Morgan at Peace Corps headquarters and asked if we could organize the luncheon/ river cruise to help smooth over the hard feelings. Don Eisele had just arrived in country and was brand new to the Peace Corps when this photo was taken.
